The Timberjay's website claimed second place among all newspaper websites in the state under the category of Best Community Interactive Website. It also took second for Best Website among weekly newspapers. The awards were presented Jan. 28 during the Minnesota Newspaper Association's annual convention in Bloomington.

The judges were particularly impressed with the My Timberjay portion of the website, which they called "a terrific community-building aspect of the site."

"My Timberjay is robust in the varied content uploaded to it from readers. The Blogs section seems popular, with some posts receiving an abundance of views," stated the judges. "Photos, especially reader submitted local sports photos, seem to be a hit," the judges continued.

Overall, the judges gave the website high marks. "The writing is clear and concise and photos are plentiful. Navigation is well planned, simple and consistent throughout the site. The site goes beyond delivery of local news and also provides a portal for those looking to visit the area."
