The young man referenced in this editorial probably needed better counseling before burdening himself with so much unnecessary debt. Did he work for a few years in his chosen field before bothering with a masters? Did he research his field before his 4 year degree? Fully 50% of students would be better off, more suited for, and make great money learning a trade. A kid with a 2 year degree can earn over 50k in the first year of a good trade. Many years ago the 'shops' classes were removed from the public schools. The progressive elites decided that a liberal arts education was the only way to go. Somehow honest labor, working with your hands and mind became unseemly. Have you hired a plumber or an electrician lately? They make much more than a social worker or teacher. How about the hourly wage for a certified auto mechanic? There should be a re-do of our failed system. I work with many miners with 4 year degrees, time and money that should have been better spent.
