Deer feeding has led to ridiculous numbers of deer where I live. But it's not just the feeders who are to blame. The Minnesota Deer Hunters Association and others have successfully lobbied the DNR to maintain a huge deer herd so the deer are easy to harvest. Yes, even the term "deer hunt" has been replaced with "deer harvest". Just like with soybeans and corn, a monocrop of deer has been created. As long as this monocrop of deer is deemed a necessity for the "harvest", efforts to save the moose or introduce elk are a waste of time. With chronic wasting, Mother Nature is going to solve the problem. It's not pretty.
