Kudos to Vermilion Country on a play very well done

Posted

MaryBeth and I would like to congratulate the cast, the director and whoever else was responsible for Once Upon a Wolf, the  first play presented April 23 at the Vermilion Country School.

We understand that for most of the cast and crew this was their first venture into theater, and we just hope it isn’t the last. First shows for any actor at any age take a lot of nerve on the part of the performer.  The most beneficial thing that a beginning actor can have is a director who knows  how to do the job and from the looks of what we saw they have  one in Mr. Clint Hughes.

There is also a ‘problem’ if you have directed, in that you immediately start reblocking the scenes, considering another way a line could be read, questioning the casting choices—we just sat back and enjoyed! Also, there were two or three ‘little’ kids in the front row who were mesmerized  by the play and barely moved a muscle—-and  the play was almost an hour long!

If you can keep the pre-school crowd attentive,  you’ve  done the job.

The hard work and dedication of the cast, the crew  and the director paid off— especially for  the audience.

We can’t wait for the next Vermilion Country School production.
