Officer on leave following shooting

Posted

SOUDAN—Deputy Tim Officer, a 19-year veteran with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, is on administrative leave after using his firearm on an assailant on Nov. 22. Administrative leave is standard following any officer-involved shooting.

Aaron Lee Boshey, 27, formerly of Tower, is being treated for his injuries at a Duluth hospital.

According to the preliminary investigation by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Virginia police attempted to pull over Boshey’s vehicle near the junction of Hwy. 53 and Hwy. 169 because of an existing felony warrant. Boshey fled, leading officers from several agencies on a high-speed pursuit that ended west of Eveleth when Boshey’s vehicle became stuck and he fled into the woods. He was carrying a handgun and wearing a bullet-proof vest. Deputy Officer fired his weapon, striking Boshey, after which Boshey walked out of the woods and surrendered.

The BCA’s investigation into the shooting is ongoing. The agency will turn its final findings over to the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office.
