BIWABIK - Living out the goal he had set for himself, Ely senior Simon Stouffer closed out his high school career at Thursday's state meet at Giants Ridge in Biwabik.
Stouffer climbed nine spots in the afternoon classic to finish in 77th place, finishing with a time of 31:51.9.
"I think he was disappointed in his result, but looking at his career, he qualified as an individual, which he hadn't done," Ely head coach Paula Anderson said, as Stouffer skied last year with the state-qualifying Ely team. "So he achieved that goal, which is huge.
