Sleigh ride event benefits Cook Food Shelf

COOK – The annual sleigh ride fundraiser for the food shelf  here was once again a success.
According to organizer Mike Hanson, the event went really well, with a total of seven teams of sleighs doing runs and roughly three hundred people attending.
The event resulted in a total of 268 pounds of food and over $700 in cash collected for the local food shelf. Hanson says this is roughly the same as last year, though the event itself has grown in popularity every year.
After enjoying a sleigh ride, attendees were treated to hot chocolate and holiday goodies, as well as the chance to warm themselves by a roaring fire. Hanson says they had an excellent day for the event, and a church group from Chisholm must have agreed, since they showed up in a charter bus for the chance to hop in a sleigh.
Hanson, with help from the North Star Draft Horse Association, has helped organize the event for the past eight years. To see more pictures, check out the North Star Draft Association Facebook page.
