ELY—The Timberwolves will be looking for new ways to win this season with the loss of all-conference runningback Josh Heiman, who graduated last spring. But the Wolves expect to get plenty of help from fullback Blaise Lah, another Ely all-conference talent, as well as senior starting quarterback Carter Gaulke, who will be starting his fourth season when the Wolves host Ogilvie in their season opener next Thursday. Note that game time is set for 6 p.m.
Ogilvie will be Ely’s only non-conference game of the season. They’ll begin conference action by hosting Northeast Range on Sept. 8, at the usual gametime of 7 p.m.
The Wolves are coming off their conference-winning season last year, going undefeated in regular season play before claiming the Section 7A championship. It was the third time in four years that the Wolves qualified for the state tournament in Nine Man football.
This year’s coaching staff includes returning head coach Brian Lamppa, with Cory Lassi serving as defensive coordinator.
Head coach Brian Lamppa did not return phone and email messages seeking comment for this story.
