Goggleye sets school scoring record

FIELD TWP - A season after Darnell Goggleye set the North Woods single-season scoring record, sophomore Cade Goggleye topped his brother’s mark.

In addition to helping steer the North Woods team to the Section 7A finals, Cade Goggleye’s efficient scoring helped him gain the school record during the tournament.

Cade is now at 549 points for the season, shooting 59 percent from the field on two-point attempts, 35 percent from three-point range and 83 percent from the free-throw line.

“I was not surprised that Cade broke the single season scoring record,” North Woods head coach Will Kleppe said. “Cade is continually working on his skills and he gets the benefits when he is in the game.

“He has always been a good shooter, but he is finding more opportunities to score this season.”

Goggleye is far from a one-dimensional player, though, averaging 6.3 assists, 4.9 steals and 2.9 rebounds a game, all while turning the ball over less than twice a night.
