Grizzlies dominate on the road again

COTTON—The North Woods boys seemed unstoppable heading into the Christmas break, as they beat Lakeview Christian, 81-61, to notch their sixth straight win.

“Lakeview Christian is the highest-ranked team in our section,” said Head Coach Will Kleppe. “They were 6-0 going into the game. We were familiar with them; we knew they were going to be competitive. Our boys rose to the occasion.”

First-half woes plagued the Grizzlies with a handful of fouls, but Kleppe said the team pulled it together and was able to go player-to-player against a relentless defense.

“I think we ran things very efficiently offensively,” Kleppe said. “It really sprung us in the second half to get a lead.”

Darius Goggleye once again led the team with 22 points. His older cousin Cade Goggleye and teammate T.J. Chiabotti each put 21 points on the board.

No additional stats were available as of press time.

The Grizzlies, now 7-1, will skip the Ely tournament this week. They’ll pick up the season again on Jan. 4 when they face Red Lake on the road.
