Have you seen this sign?

ELY - Until Monday night, this sign welcomed visitors to the Northern Lights Lodge and Resort on Highway 21 between Ely and Babbitt.

The sign was nowhere to be seen Tuesday morning.

Marie and Gary Vogt have owned and operated the resort since 2001. They put up the custom-made redwood sign in 2002.

“We took the sign down last fall to freshen up the background and the reflective lettering for our 2015 celebrations as this is our 15th summer here at NLL,” Marie said. She took this picture of the sign in December when it was put back up. “Now it is gone, probably forever. It took three people to get it back up there.”

When they discovered it missing, they filed a police report and turned to Facebook in an effort to get it back. “We hope that whoever took it will return it. It can’t be rebuilt or replaced as we can no longer acquire the redwood material,” she said.
