FIELD TWP – North Woods’ Regan Ratai and Bailey Johnson delivered a combined 33 kills, but it wasn’t enough to defeat Mountain Iron-Buhl, which won a five-set battle in the Section 7A volleyball playoffs here on Wednesday.
The Grizzlies took the first set 25-23, but lost the next two 21-25 and 19-25. North Woods rallied in the fourth set for a 25-17 win but fell behind quickly in the rubber set. The Rangers took the set and the match with a 15-6 win.
Alli Sandberg recorded 48 set assists while Brystin Vitense produced 13 digs. Andrea Udovich added six kills and Rylee Bandelin and Taylor Midthun each contributed eight kills.
The Rangers were led by Abby Schneider, who put down 20 kills, and Patty Overbye, who tallied 39 set assists.
