Julian W. Brzoznowski

Julian Walter Brzoznowski, 78, of Orr, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, Dec. 22 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Orr. Arrangements were with Mlaker Funeral Home of Cook.

Julian was born to Clemens and Amelia (Knopka) Brzoznowski on July 22, 1940, in International Falls. Julian attended Orr High School, graduating in 1958. He was united in marriage to Jo Ann (DeBoer) Breneman on Sept. 22, 1995.

Julian was a self-employed logger and farmer. He lived his entire life on the Brzoznowski farm up until a year ago when he and Jo Ann settled in Orr. He served as a board member for the North Star Electrical Co-op for 34 years and the Cook Hospital for 28 years. He was also very active in supporting numerous other community activities and functions.

Julian was a hard-working farmer and logger. In his spare time, he enjoyed trapping and trout fishing. As much as Julian loved to fish, he understood the responsibility of caring for the natural resources. He was involved with the MN Trout Stream Rejuvenation Program.

Julian was a very loving and proud husband, father and grandfather. His family remembers the laughs he provided as the family’s fun-loving practical joker. He always had a “thumbs up” for everyone.

Brzoznowski Jr. of Illinois; stepchildren, Dean Breneman of International Falls, Julie (Russell) Helgeson of Ray and Rebecca (Shad) Murray of International Falls; grandchildren, Adam Salmi of Rochester, Allan (Marie) Salmi of St. Paul, April (Michael) Wilcox of Angora, Ryan Servis of International Falls, Dustin Helgeson of International Falls, Wyatt Helgeson of Duluth, Sabrina Murray of International Falls, Cody Erickson of Mankato, Christina (Scott) Fuller of East Bethel and Thomas “T.J.” Sather of Avon; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Brown, Jack Udovich, Annabelle Wilcox, Shay Wilcox, Zoey Wilcox, Abel Fuller, Anastasia Fuller, Avaliese Fuller, Braden Sheridan, Haven Westover and Julian Salmi-Miller; brother, Clemens (Melba) Brzoznowski of California; and sisters, Roseland (Paul) Ehrenberg of Minnesota and Frances Brzoznowski of Arizona; many special nieces and nephews; lifelong cherished friends and extended family.
