Stephen F. Latowski
Stephen F. Latowski, 98, of South Bend, Ind., and Crane Lake, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Services were held at Holy Cross Church in South Bend on Wednesday, May 18. Arrangements were with Kaniewski Funeral Home of South Bend.
Stephen was born on April 1, 1924, to the late Stephen C. and Margaret (Chudzicki) Latowski. He graduated from Central High School in 1941 and Purdue University in 1949 with a degree in Pharmacy. In World War II, he served in North Africa and Italy with the 34th Red Bull Division 135th Infantry Regiment. He married R. Estella Mosher on Aug. 2, 1947, and she preceded him in death. Stephen was a member of Holy Cross Church, the American Legion Post 357 of South Bend, and a charter member of Vermilion River Greens of Buyck. He spent his summers at the family cabin at Crane Lake; his passion was fishing.
Stephen is survived by his children, Margaret (Devon) Garrett, Diana (Dr. Frederick) Evans, Patricia (David) Strebinger, Carol (Bruce Houghtby) Latowski, John Latowski and Donald (Barbara Wilson) Latowski; sixteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn (John) Kibble.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Robert Latowski; grandson, Campbell Evans; great-grandson, Jaden Garrett; and sisters, Deloris Bock and Jeanette Tobolski.
