Tranquility Center coming to Ely

ELY – The Ely Tranquility Wellness Center, set for a soft opening on June 3, will serve as a sanctuary where personal wellness is enhanced through education, services, and handmade products that support, celebrate, and nurture mind, body, and soul.

Owner Jaime Brennan said she will operate the first and only comprehensive wellness center within a sixty-mile radius of Ely. “Our center is located on a beautiful corner property on Sheridan Street where we provide a welcoming and tranquil atmosphere,” she said. “We focus on creating peaceful and joyful interactions between customers, clients, practitioners, the community, and nature.”

Brennan said she will offer many different avenues to learn about creating and maintaining tranquility, which she defines as:

• A Body in Balance - Which does not mean that you need to be able to stand on one leg, but that everything works in harmony and functions optimally.

• A Mind at Ease - Your thoughts and words are calm and joyful. You experience clarity and can focus on what is important to you.

• And a Satisfied Soul - You live with a purpose, and it fills every cell of your being with energy and happiness.

“We are committed to supporting our community near and far in creating true and lasting wellness,” she said.

Founding vision

Brennan was recently the program director for the Ely Folk School. “The idea for the center was born out of a desire to fulfill my true calling - working with plants and building community by fostering connections to self, others, and nature,” she said.

She admitted that she has battled various health challenges over the past two decades. “I have overcome some of my own health issues through the help of herbal remedies, by using techniques for health and happiness, and by taking time for me. I am a wife and a mother to one nine-year old boy, who is my worst patient, but has helped me create herbal remedies that even he will take,” she said.

Her personal journeying toward tranquility led her to a deeper study of herbs with Rosemary Gladstar at Sage Mountain about 10 years ago. “I owned and operated an herbal store in my hometown of Albion, New York and became a certified health coach offering my knowledge and services to others,” she said. “This combination of personal experience, formal education, and practical application with customers and clients has given me a strong foundation for making Tranquility Wellness Center a success. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience about my herbal plants. Helping others learn to participate in their own healing journey, transform their lives and families is my calling.”

Why a center?

“We believe it takes a community to offer their talents to support a healthy community,” Brennan said. “We have a strong community of knowledgeable, skilled and passionate healers and practitioners in Ely and the surrounding Iron Range towns, but there has not been a central location to offer their services. Many practitioners offer their services out of their homes, rent community spaces, or travel directly to clients.”

She said Tranquility Wellness Center offers a space that brings these talents and services together in one location which supports patrons and practitioners. “The center is a team approach to wellness and allows us to provide resources and support more easily to the local community and the thousands of visitors who come here each year.”

Wide array of offerings

“We will offer a balanced approach with holistic services and hands-on educational opportunities,” Brennan said. “Our current practitioners bring a wide array of skills and will be offering the following: classes and programs; Herb-of-the-Month Club;

Herb Fairies (A program about herbs for children); herbal classes; plant identification and nature walks; yoga; meditation; soul journeying; workshops and special events; Wellness Wednesdays (wellness service sampler event); book club; movie nights and more.”

Services will include: herbal treatments; health and life coaching: individual or group sessions; massage; Shiatsu; Cupping; Reiki and other energy work; happiness coaching; guided meditation; Sound healing, and additional therapies as other practitioners join the center.

To complement their holistic approach to wellness, Tranquility Wellness Center will offer handmade products as well as supplies:

-Bulk herbs

-Herbal tea blends

-Herbal extracts

-Salves and liniments

-Facial product line

-Other herbal products such as bath blends, and salt scrubs.

“We have supplies to make your own products including: bottles, jars, oils, waxes, butters, cheesecloth and nut milk bags, and other herb supplies,” she said. “We also have mugs made by a local potter, and a small selection of related books will be available for purchase,” she said.

Experienced practitioners

Brennan, an herbalist and certified health coach, will be joined at Tranquility Wellness Center by a variety of certified wellness practitioners:

• Lisa Pugh - expedition leader, herbalist, energy worker. Lisa offers her skills in guiding trips into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness to help women gain confidence in themselves through nature and honing intuition. Lisa also makes herbal products, will facilitate herbal classes and help staff the store.

• Autumn Cole - as a Happiness Coach, she will be teaching weekly Happiness classes, as well as classes about angels, the power of words, and intuition. She plans to host a monthly “Fall Into Joy” book club featuring happy and inspiring books to read.

• Michele (Mica) Cascarano-Berg - is a professional educator. She is certified as a life coach, hypnotherapist, yoga instructor, ARomatouch and Reiki practitioner, all services she will offer. She will also offer weekly workshops on goal setting, past life regression, shamanic journeying, yoga and meditation.

•Jessie Brooks - certified massage therapist offering Swedish and deep tissue massage and specializing in prenatal massage. Jessie also offers Shiatsu, a traditional Chinese medicine body analysis and work, along with cupping and auricular therapy.

• Linda Rodorigo - certified Kundalini yoga instructor and certified Shai Shakti healer. Linda offers gong therapy, crystal bowl healing, Kundalini yoga and Shai Shakti healing sessions.

• LynnAnne Vesper - specializes in massage for cyclists, runners, canoeists, and skiers. (She can work on couch potatoes, too!) LynnAnne enjoys helping an athlete achieve an ambitious goal. Let LynnAnne help you get back “in the saddle” for your next endeavor.

“A search for other practitioners to join the team will be ongoing,” Brennan said. “An application and interview insures that qualified and professional people are offered the opportunity to join the center and are the right fit.” As more practitioners join the center, more offerings will become available.

Kickstarter campaign

“We will make this dream a reality with financial support,” Brennan said.   “We are so confident, our Grand Opening is scheduled for July 1.”

Tranquility Wellness Center offers a scholarship fund for individuals who would not otherwise have the financial resources to receive their services. “These monies will be obtained by setting aside 90 percent of any raised funds beyond our targeted goal,” she said.

“With our dedicated and enthusiastic team and supporters we are confident we will move forward no matter what. We are excited about the transformation within Tranquility Wellness Center and the future transformation it will generate for our community near and far,” Brennan said. “Your help with a successful Kickstarter campaign will insure the long term success of Tranquility Wellness Center.”
