REGIONAL- The Ely Timberwolves softball team drew the No. 4 seed in the 7A sectional tournament that begins Tuesday and will host three games that day.
The Wolves will take on No. 13 Cook County in the opener at noon. Ely, 15-4, defeated Cook County, 1-12, on April 26.
The second game of the day will feature No. 5 South Ridge, 11-7, against No. 12 Chisholm, 2-17, at 2 p.m.
The winners of those games will meet in a second-round game at 4 p.m.
The North Woods Grizzlies, 5-12, drew the No.10 seed and a first-round game against No. 7 Cromwell-Wright, 12-7, at 2 p.m. at Cherry. No. 2 Cherry, 14-4, received a first-round bye and will take on the winner in a 4 p.m. matchup.
An opening round win guarantees a team at least two more games, while an opening round loss results in elimination. Second-round losers will have the chance to battle their way to the championship game by winning the elimination bracket. Games for the third round of the winners’ bracket and first round of the elimination bracket will be on Thursday.
