Model Beaver floatplane highlight of Ely’s new pocket park

ELY—The first pocket park built here is now officially open.
Puddle Jumper Park was dedicated this past Friday, and a few dozen people came out to enjoy music, hot dogs, and more at the former site of Pamida at 115 E. Chapman St.
The centerpiece of the new park is a scaled-down replica of a deHavilland Beaver floatplane, which was funded in part by a $17,000 grant from the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board.
Brad Pearse of OzFab built the aluminum model, which attracted the attention of several children at the dedication. The red and white plane features a rotating propeller, a flight bench, and two yokes on an imitation flight panel.
