ELY– The Ely Area Tourism Bureau recently welcomed two new leaders into the fold. Abby Dare has been appointed Community Relations and Administrative Coordinator and Whitney Woods is the new Marketing Director for the Ely Area Tourism Bureau.
Abby Dare has been a mainstay in the community since her arrival in 2012 with a background spanning roles as a wilderness instructor, staffing director, facilitator, and business owner. She brings a wealth of experience in education, public speaking, and community building. Outside of her role with the bureau, she co-owns the Meadows Gallery and Studios and works to make the world a more welcoming and peaceful place for all.
Whitney Woods just relocated to Ely from Saint Paul in February of this year, formerly working at the Minnesota Historical Society, coordinating the marketing efforts of such Minnesota landmarks as the Split Rock Lighthouse and the historic Minnesota State Capitol Building. With an extensive background in marketing, business administration, and the arts, she brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her role.
“Abby and I complement each other well in our roles. We are excited about our shared vision for Ely and the surrounding area,” said Woods. “We both believe that supporting and uplifting community efforts and growing strong partnerships with other area organizations are at the core of a successful and sustainable tourism economy. This region has such a unique history and culture — it has something to offer everyone, we want to show the world just how special it is.”
The bureau is also happy to announce their new office space within the Kawishiwi Ranger Station at the U.S. Forest Service Building in Ely. It’s wonderful to be a part of that campus.
Learn more about each of the team at ely.org/marketing-team or join us for an in-person presentation about the bureau's mission on April 8 from noon-1pm at the weekly Tuesday Group at the Grand Ely Lodge.
