Thanks for the effort on trail development around Tower

I’m expressing gratitude to the Tower City Council for all of the extra time and energy they are allowing for the community to participate in the decision-making process for the many trail proposals under way. Kevin Norby, in particular, has put forth a great effort to bring people together.
When the Mesabi Trail approached the city with a couple of alternatives to connect Tower to Embarrass, the easy button would have been to make a decision and move on to other concerns. Instead, the city has been a leader in transparency by convening additional conversations with all trail interests at the same table. They have provided opportunities to share information and develop multiple alternatives. And then they have allowed time for groups to discuss further and research the options that were developed.
It is my hope that once all of the facts and viewpoints are gathered, the city will choose the option that provides for the highest quality trails, which we can all be proud of for many years to come. Sometimes it feels like there is an urgency to rush to a decision. Knowing that these are decisions we only have one chance to make, we should slow down and be thorough.
While not everyone will be happy with the final decision, everyone can be happy with the fact that they have had the chance to provide input to those making the decisions. This is a model that other communities can look to as an example when they have hard decisions to make.
