REGIONAL- The Ely and North Woods football teams drew identical No. 6 seeds in their playoff brackets for next week, but face remarkably different challenges when they each take the field on Tuesday.
The 1-7 Wolves will travel to No. 3 Braham, a trip they made on Sept. 27 and returned from with a 42-12 loss. With the Woves giving up 44 points in each of their last two games, a first-round sectional win would be a huge upset.
As for the Grizzlies, they will travel to Littlefork-Big Falls on Tuesday with the confidence that comes from having already beaten the Vikings on their home turf 24-16 on Sept. 20. Against common opponents, the Vikings were 4-1 while the Grizzlies were 2-3. The No. 6 Grizzlies should give the No. 3 Vikings all they can handle and could pull off another win. Should North Woods get the W, they would almost surely have a Saturday afternoon matchup against the Cherry Tigers at Cherry.
