COOK- A 40-year-old woman is in a Duluth hospital following a Sunday afternoon shooting St. Louis County Sheriff’s officials suspect was committed by the woman’s daughter in their Morcom township residence.
St. Louis County 911 received a call at approximately 4:30 p.m. Jan. 16 regarding a woman who was enroute to Cook Hospital with a gunshot wound. The woman was subsequently transported to a Duluth area hospital for additional medical treatment and is believed to be in stable condition, according to authorities.
The shooting suspect, a juvenile, reportedly left the residence where the shooting allegedly took place in a vehicle that was later found stuck in a ditch approximately two miles from the residence. Officers observed a vehicle nearby and identified one of the three occupants as the shooting suspect. The other two individuals were determined by officers to have been contacted by the suspect for assistance and were released after it was determined they had no knowledge of the shooting incident.
The juvenile suspect was transported to the St. Louis County Courthouse in Hibbing for additional processing.
Names of those involved were not released by the sheriff’s department, and the incident is being actively investigated.
