Glass tops leaderboard at Two Harbors

FIELD TWP — The North Woods girls golf team turned in a pair of strong performances last week, placing third on Monday at its home meet at Vermilion Fairways in Cook and finishing second on Thursday at the ERC Girls Invite at the National Golf Course in Two Harbors.
At Vermilion Fairways, freshman Laurin Glass led the Grizzlies with a round of 57, good for a tie for eighth place overall. Kiley Kopatz placed 14th with a 64, while Sophia Hoffman tied for 15th with a 66 and River Deatherage finished 21st with a 69 to round out the North Woods team scoring.
Also teeing it up for the Grizzlies were Khloe Holland, who shot a 73, and Kate Cheney, who shot an 84.
Veronica Gangl of Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin earned medalist honors with a 47.

Two Harbors
The Grizzlies followed with a second-place finish Thursday at the ERC Girls Invite in Two Harbors, highlighted by another strong outing from Glass.
Glass finished in a three-way tie for medalist honors after carding a 54. Kopatz also turned in a strong round for North Woods, tying for fourth place with a 55.
Deatherage added a 60 to place 10th overall, while Holland rounded out the North Woods team scoring with a 63, good for a tie for 14th.
G/N-K claimed the team title behind co-medalists Elliot Kackman and Veronica Gangl, who matched Glass with rounds of 54.
