HIBBING — The North Woods boys and girls both competed with limited entries on Saturday at the 70th annual Doc Savage Invitational, with the boys finishing eighth and the girls tenth in the ten-team field.
For the boys, it was once again the Kahlil Lightfeather-Spears and Lincoln Antikainen show in the distance events.
Lightfeather-Spears turned in the top performance of the day for the Grizzlies, placing second in the 1600 meters in 4:59.99, followed closely by Antikainen, who took third in 5:06.41. The duo also placed in the 3200 meters, with Lightfeather-Spears finishing fifth in 10:55.75 and Antikainen seventh in 11:39.95.

Leah Las led the way as the Grizzlies’ top individual performer, placing seventh in the 400 meters in 1:06.85 and adding a ninth-place finish in the long jump at 13-1.5.
