Empty Bowl raises over $1,100 for Tower Food Shelf

This year’s Empty Bowl fundraiser brought in $1,185 for the Tower Area Food Shelf, enough to fund the food shelf activities for an entire month. The project was a collaboration of high school art students, adult artists and Sulu’s Espresso Cafe. Adult potters created over 160 bowls which were finished and glazed by the art students. Community members purchased an empty bowl for $5, and Sulu’s donated a bowl of homemade soup for each bowl purchased. The adult potters also donated more impressive pottery works that were offered in a silent auction, with pieces going for as high as $70.
