The effect of driving out the immigrants, “illegal” or not: it opens up the jobs delivering food or washing cars. Who is going to have to take those jobs now? The working poor whose benefits and income are forever being reduced by inflation and the chaotic disruption of the systems designed to provide a minimum of humanitarian assistance.
In his first term, Trump made sure to have his signature on the COVID checks and the farm support checks during the embargo against selling grain to China. Two grand a month for the urban poor, and enough to boost rural farmers into the next tax bracket, all apparently courtesy of Donald Trump.
People may not hear what you said, but they’re sure as hell going to remember how you made them feel. That’s how we have what we have.
