EVELETH – The Northeast Range-Ely boys golf team took to the links in Eveleth on Monday for the Rock Ridge boys meet at Eveleth Municipal Golf Course, placing fifth in the seven-team event. Meanwhile, a young foursome from North Woods placed sixth in the event.
NER-Ely Senior Thomas Homer took team honors with a 13-over 49 on the par 36 layout, placing 17th in the field of 42. Senior Ty Walker carded a 50 for 21st, senior Robert Towley placed 26th with a score of 53, and sophomore Lewis Powell stroked a score of 57, finishing 33rd.
Playing for North Woods, a pair of eighth-graders, Sawyer Glass and Gage Aune, led the way, each notching a 47 on the par 36 course, tying for 12th. Fellow eighth-grader Peyton Swanson toured the course with a 59, placing 36th, and right behind in 37th was junior Ryder Gibson with a 60.
