Northeast Range shows progress in home finale

Posted

BABBITT- Northeast Range closed out its home volleyball schedule with a three-set loss to Nashwauk-Keewatin on Monday, but Head Coach Misty Roseth saw plenty to appreciate as her young players competed before a full house on parents night.
Northeast Range stayed within reach in all three sets, falling 19-25, 20-25, 19-25.
“We lost in 3, but not without some long fun competitive volleys,” Roseth said. “The girls really showed some of their individual growth tonight and that made the whole night. Seeing the less experienced girls rise up and get some kills, ace serves and learning the game is what it’s all about.”
Freshman setter Miranda Mackai helped direct the offense with 21 set assists while adding three kills and five digs. She also connected on all 10 of her serves.
Junior Peyson Roseth led the attack with nine kills and contributed three blocks, eight digs, and two ace serves. Senior middle Kaydence Hancock added eight kills and two blocks, while senior libero Chloe Janeksela collected 14 digs. Sophomore Bridgett Stern went nine-for-nine serving with an ace, and eighth-grader Madison Fisher made all six of her serves, including an ace. Freshman Jayden Gorecki was eight-for-eight from the service line.
