TOWER- Water to a portion of west Tower was shut off for hours on Saturday due to a water main break in an alley west of Pine St. between Main and N 2nd St. that was discovered Saturday morning.
Water service was reportedly restored late Saturday afternoon, according to Mayor Orlyn Kringstad.
The affected area was a rectangle bordered by Cedar St. on the west, Birch St. on the east, N 3rd St. on the north, and Main St. on the south. City of Tower Maintenance Foreman Ben Velcheff said he and others went door-to-door to notify residents in the affected area.
Excavators from C&C Winger, of Embarrass, were brought in to dig down about eight feet into the frozen alley for workers to fix the break.
