BABBITT — Two adults were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds at a residence in Babbitt last week.
According to the Babbitt Police Department, an officer was dispatched to the home of Edward and Carla Olson in the 30 block of Aspen Lane shortly before 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, to conduct a welfare check.
After entering the residence, the officer discovered the two adults with apparent gunshot wounds. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene by the Babbitt Ambulance Service.
Authorities said preliminary findings indicate there is no threat to the public.
The victims were transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies.
Babbitt Police Interim Chief Todd Heikkila reported the identities of the victims in a press release late Wednesday. He said the invesitigation is active and ongoing, but provided no additional details about the incident.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation. No additional information had been released as of Tuesday.
