TWO HARBORS — NER/Ely senior Cylvia DeBeltz captured medalist honors at last Thursday’s East Range Conference Championship at Lakeview National Golf Course, finishing three strokes ahead of the field to claim the individual title.
DeBeltz opened with a 46 on the front nine and followed with a 50 on the back for a winning 18-hole total of 96.
North Woods finished fourth in the team standings and was led by freshman Laurin Glass, who turned in a third-place finish with a round of 104.
The Grizzlies also counted a 125 from junior Kiley Kopatz, who tied for 20th place overall. Freshman River Deatherage added a 132 to place 25th, while junior Kate Cheney managed a score of 142 to finish in 31st place.
DeBeltz was the lone golfer competing for the Nighthawks.
Sectional tournament play for both teams was scheduled to begin on Tuesday, with the contest wrapping up on Wednesday.
