ELY- The Ely Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to unveil its festive lineup of events for the 2025 holiday season, encouraging both residents and visitors to celebrate and support local businesses in the Northwoods. The centerpiece of this year’s Chamber-sponsored events is the new, three-day Mrs. Claus Holiday Hop, running from Friday, Dec. 5 to Sunday, Dec. 7. This event features two components: a three-day shopping event for adults, for which the Chamber will create a promotional business list highlighting hours and special offers; and a concurrent three-day activity event for youth, where participating businesses will provide a special, small item for kids, such as a holiday sticker, coloring sheet, or craft. Businesses do not need to be open all three days or participate in both components. To further assist shoppers, the Chamber will provide complimentary Shopping Lists and pens to all participating businesses.
The weekend also marks the launch of the Shine Bright Ely storefront decorating competition on Friday, Dec. 5, with businesses needing to have decorations in place by 3 p.m. for public voting. Prizes will be awarded on Tuesday, Dec. 9, and businesses must preregister to participate.
Finally, the Mrs. Claus Party will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Grand Ely Lodge, with a sensory-friendly time from 10:30-11 a.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be present to engage approximately 160 youth in crafts and activities. Businesses can sponsor a craft table for $100 (Chamber provides supplies and volunteer) or provide their own craft and volunteer at no charge, with setup starting at 9 a.m. Goodies for the children’s gift bags are also being sought, with a sponsor list provided in each bag.
Other area holiday events include a pancake breakfast and holiday boutique in Embarrass on Saturday, Dec. 6. The Ely Community Choir will present “Hope Has Dawned, Noel - A Cantata for Christmas” at the Historic State Theater on Saturday, Dec. 13, with a special performance by the Ely Community Youth Choir.
Ely Community Center Holiday Lights Contest 2025 kicks off on Dec. 6 with public voting running through Dec. 17.  The contest is open to all Ely residents, and addresses will be featured on the Holiday Lights Tour Map. Residents are encouraged to register by Dec. 5.  Contact the Ely Community Center with questions or to register.
