ELY — The Ely Area Community Foundation has hired Melissa Hart as its new event and property manager, the organization announced Friday.
Hart, who began her part-time position Sept. 2, will manage operations at The Hub, a community facility at 760 Miners Drive East that houses four tenant organizations and offers event space for public use.
A lifelong Ely resident and mother of four, Hart volunteers with the End of the Road youth archery program and owns a small business. She said her local connections and business experience make her well-suited for the role.
“I am very excited to take on this new role and work for the Ely Area Community Foundation,” Hart said in a statement. “I think my local ties and passion for community allow me to be uniquely qualified for this role. I look forward to putting my time and energy into the success of the Hub.”
The Hub building houses Northwoods Partners, Happy Days Learning Center, Functional Fitness and Well Being Development. Hart will handle building logistics and tenant relations while coordinating use of the facility’s community room.
The community space can host up to 100 people and features audiovisual equipment for meetings, workshops and events. Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital co-sponsors the room, which is free for local nonprofits and available to others for a fee.
The Hub is part of the foundation’s “Connects” initiative, which aims to build relationships among individuals, families, nonprofits and community resources.
The Ely Area Community Foundation serves Ely, Morse Township, Winton, Babbitt, Embarrass, Soudan, Tower and surrounding communities through four initiatives: Connects, Gives, Swims and Uplifts.
