I send out a dozen postcards every week to our federal judges who insist on doing their jobs and protecting our constitution, and I would like to encourage your readers to do this as well.
When you see a news clip about a judge standing up to the nonsensical farce in Washington, look up the name and address of the judge. Send a postcard saying thank you. (Postcards get past security a lot faster and don’t take nearly as much time to read.)
They appreciate it and, in my opinion, need it. I can only imagine how much hate mail they get from our less-than-magnanimous MAGA louses.
I don’t save the thank you notes I receive in return, but I copied this one.
Dear Mr. Porter,
Thank you for your thoughtful postcard and for taking the time to share such kind words. Your engagement with our system of justice is deeply appreciated. It means a great deal to know that values of justice and fairness resonate so strongly with members of the public. Our court system, just like our democracy, relies on the civic engagement of people like you, who are committed to these values.
Sincerely, Sparkle L. Sooknanan
United States District Judge
And yes, “Sparkle L. Sooknanan” is a real person and she’s written back before.
Seems to me it costs less than a buck in postage and does more good than that third cup of coffee in the morning.
