Henry A. (Art) Dale
Reverend Henry Arthur Dale, age 96 of Soudan, died Friday, May 1, 2026 in his home. Art was a classically trained pianist and a Lutheran Pastor serving 60 years in the ministry. He served Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Virginia, Calvary Lutheran Church in Orr, and Good Shepherd Lutheran in Wayzata. He served as an Interim Pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran in Grand Marais; and as a Bridge Pastor at St. Mark’s Lutheran in Palo and Faith Lutheran in Hoyt Lakes. Art was awarded the Heritage Quilt Award by Lutheran Social Services for his Lifetime Achievement.
The Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tower. Pastors Chuck Barnes and Sanna Reinholtzen will officiate. A gathering time for family and friends will begin at 10 a.m.
Clergy attending are requested to wear white.

Marilyn A. Niemiste
Marilyn Andrea Sand Niemiste, 90, of Minneapolis, formerly of New London, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026, after a life well-lived. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 6 at Peace Lutheran Church in New London, with a light lunch to follow. Visitation will be prior to the service at 10 a.m. Memorials may be given to the Peace Lutheran Church music department.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Arne of Long Lake; son, John (Gretchen) Niemiste of Tower; grandchildren, Andrew Thompson, John Thompson, Adam Morrison, Laura Gerlach, Jack Morrison, Aaron Niemiste and Paige Niemiste; and eight great-grandchildren.

Glenn E. Harju
Glenn E. Harju, 73, of Biwabik, formerly of Embarrass, died on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Northern Pines Nursing Home in Aurora. Per his request, there will be no funeral or celebration of life. Family services are provided by Bauman Family Funeral Home in Virginia.
He is survived by his significant other, Vivian Vasiljevic; and a number of relatives, including niece, Lindsey.

Inez S. Burris
Inez Seline Boe Burris, 102, of Cook, was taken by the angels on Thursday, April 30, 2026. A special thank you to the LPNs, CNAs and all the providers at the Cook Care Center and Hospital, where she made her home for over 12 years. Her family appreciates your dedication and kindness towards Inez during her time with you. She would often tell us about “the nice girls who take care of me.” Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 11 at Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook with Pastor Liz Cheney officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her sons, Gerald (Jerry) Burris, Thomas (Tom) Burris and John Burris; daughter, Marion Burris; grandchildren, Jade Smith, April (Rich) Inott, Chris (Karen) Burris, Tom Burris Jr., Austin (Sam Maki) Burris, Cody Burris, Bruce Sharp and Jeffrey Sharp; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Peggy A. Lashmett
Peggy Ann Kohanek Lashmett, 67, of Gilbert, formerly of Babbitt, died on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. A Memorial Mass was held on Wednesday, May 6 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. David Forsman celebrating. Inurnment will be in the Argo Cemetery in Babbitt at a later date. Arrangements were with Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert.
She is survived by her son, Devin (Sara) Lashmett of Biwabik; grandsons, Peyton and Cohen Lashmett; siblings, Lawrence (Sue) Kohanek of Shakopee, Sandy (Tim) Smith of Las Vegas, Nev., Sue (Lenis) Mastin of Montgomery and Karen (Pat) Fredrickson of Bemidji; several nieces and nephews; special companion, Vince Ferkul of Eveleth; and lifelong friend, Jodi Thompson of Sioux City, Iowa.
