ORR- An Orr man with a prior impaired-driving conviction has been charged with second-degree DWI after law enforcement responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Hwy. 169.
According to a criminal complaint filed in St. Louis County District Court, law enforcement responded shortly after 1:20 p.m. on June 5 to a vehicle in the ditch just north of County Rd. 21. The driver was identified as 21-year-old Anevay Joseph Goodsky-Spears.
The officer reported observing physical signs of possible alcohol impairment. Goodsky-Spears reportedly told the officer that he had consumed alcohol approximately 12 hours before driving.
A preliminary breath test registered an alcohol concentration of 0.187. Goodsky-Spears was arrested and transported to the St. Louis County Jail in Virginia, where an evidentiary breath test administered at 2:54 p.m. registered 0.17, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.
The complaint charges Goodsky-Spears with second-degree DWI, a gross misdemeanor punishable by up to 364 days in jail, a fine of up to $3,000, or both. The charge includes two aggravating factors: an alcohol concentration of 0.16 or higher and a qualified impaired-driving conviction within the preceding 10 years.
Goodsky-Spears was convicted in 2024 of gross misdemeanor criminal vehicular operation while under the influence of alcohol following a July 2023 crash in Cook. In that incident, authorities said Goodsky-Spears’ vehicle had apparently been traveling south at a high rate of speed when it lost control after crossing the railroad tracks on Second St. SE, left the roadway, struck the crossing-arm control equipment, and came to rest on its roof in a ditch. Goodsky-Spears and a 17-year-old passenger were taken to Cook Hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries.
In the current case, Goodsky-Spears was released through Arrowhead Regional Corrections’ pretrial-release program rather than posting the $12,000 bail set by the court.
An omnibus hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, in St. Louis County District Court in Virginia.
