Someone recently facetiously stated that “War is God’s way of teaching Americans geography.” Indeed, many of us are now getting educated on the Strait of Hormuz, Iran, and also on some economics regarding oil, liquified natural gas, and fertilizer issues.
Secretary of War (formerly known as the Department of Defense) Pete Hegseth (a.k.a. connoisseur of fine beer) states that the Strait of Hormuz is NOT really closed, except that Iran is shooting artillery and missiles at ships attempting to travel its waters. The bottleneck of tankers is unprecedented.
Trump’s ever changing attention span has apparently lost interest in annexing Greenland and Canada for now. Venezuela’s president and wife are in U.S. custody. Now the feds are asking for billions more for the Israel-USA-Iran war with Marines headed to the area. Oil and gas prices are going up, food prices remain high, and service and delivery costs are rising correspondingly. Cuba is on the MAGA radar now.
Even with campaign promises (lower consumer prices, no more wars) in the trash, the MAGA base still clings to “the Donald” and his supposed concern for common citizens. His main concern is really for his true buddies, the uber-wealthy. Hopefully, the tide will turn in November, and a newly progressive Congress will enact higher income taxes on the millionaires and billionaires. After all, they have benefited the most from our infrastructure, national defense, and the right of “pursuit of happiness” by the principle of OPM: using Other People’s Money to accrue wealth and being able to legally declare bankruptcy if projected profits aren’t met. Case in point: Donald John Trump, with many years of filed bankruptcies.
