According to the New York Times, the Iranian Red Crescent Society, that country’s primary relief organization, said on April 2, that at least 703 schools and 316 health care facilities have been damaged or destroyed, and at least 1,701 civilians have been killed since the start of the Iran war.
Trump indicated that he wanted to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Trump does not appear to want to acknowledge that he previously withdrew the U.S. from an agreement that accomplished exactly that. It was signed by Iran and the United Nations’ Security Council comprised of China, France, U.K., Germany, European Union and the U.S.
Iran agreed to contain its nuclear programs, limiting fuel cycle activities that could produce weapons grade uranium and plutonium. The agreement permitted the International Atomic Agency to monitor Iran’s nuclear work and gave the agency the right to inspect the entire country to verify that there were no secret nuclear military facilities in Iran.
Trump has threatened to wipe out the whole Iranian civilization and complete demolition. Some people refer to the statement as a willful genocide. It is a reminder of the outcome of the Nuremberg trial of the German high command officers of World War II. They were all convicted. How is Trump’s situation different?
