Joan Edman

Joan Torkelson Edman, 100, of Ely, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, at Boundary Waters Care Center in Ely. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 16 at Grace Lutheran Church in Ely, with visitation one hour prior and interment in the Ely Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home in Ely. 
She is survived by her children, Joel (Kathy) Edman, Becky (Mike) Trancheff, Tom (Dawn Anderson) Edman and Kim Grayson; grandchildren, Robert (Matt Hill) Edman, Joleen (Miguel Leanez) Edman, Megan (Dan) Sailsbury, Kirsten Trancheff and Abbie (Carter Wethern) Wethern-Edman; great-grandchildren, Samantha Rettman, Isabelle Rettman, Calvin Sailsbury, Max Sailsbury and Jonah Sailsbury; many nieces and nephews and their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
